Los Delfines Water Park
This water park is located around half an hour’s trip away from Santo Domingo. It recently opened and is getting rave reviews from families for its series of swimming pools, along with areas around the pools for parents to keep watch if they don’t want to get wet themselves.
There are slides and flumes that range from fast rides for older children to those that younger children can go on by themselves or accompanied by parents.
Explore the ChocoMuseo
Apart from tourism, one of the main industries in the Dominican Republic is the production of chocolate. The chocolate museum is perfect for learning a bit of history and culture over the family holidays.
Located in Punta Cana and Santo Domingo, the museum’s exhibits look at the history of the cultivation of cacao beans in the country and how the chocolate is produced from the beans. Most important of all, there is a chocolate making workshop so you will get the chance to taste the different chocolate products.
Take a Safari into the Interior of the Island
While most people get the opportunity to see the beaches of the Dominican Republic, there are many areas of the country which aren’t explored quite so much. Zip-Lining in the Monkey Jungle
On the north coast of the country between the resorts of Sosua and Cabarete, this lovely area of jungle is the home of a population of squirrel monkeys who are friendly and inquisitive. There is a series of zip lines where you can zoom through the jungle over a course that is nearly a mile long. Security is a priority and there is suitable safety equipment used to keep the whole family safe.

Visit the Santo Domingo Aquarium
While young and old children love aquarium visits the Santo Domingo Aquarium, take the experience up a notch with a tunnel that you can walk through completely surrounded by the water. You’ll find there sharks, fish and even sea turtles. It takes on a new meaning to feel under the sea.
White Water Rafting
Looking for family friendly activities in the Dominican Republic that will please even the pickiest teenagers? White water rafting on the Yaque del Norte river is a great option that will really urge everyone to work together as a team. The scenery is superb, while there are also some challenging rapids, with the safety equipment all provided to ensure everyone protected.
