How to get to Samana, Dominican Republic?

Finding out where to land for your flight to Las Terrenas couldn’t be easier! The region is served by El Catey International Airport. Air Transat flies non-stop several times a week from Canada. From there, Samana’s many all-inclusive resorts are only a few miles away.

Samana is also accessible by car or bus from the Dominican Republic’s other major cities, including Punta Cana, Santo Domingo and Puerto Plata. In all cases, the drive takes approximately 5 hours.

The fresh fish. You choose your fish, weigh it on the scale and then sip a piña colada with your feet in the sand while they prepare your feast.

Located in the heart of the jungle, this spectacular 55-meter waterfall is best reached on horseback – it’s much safer and more enjoyable than trekking on muddy trails and crossing rivers on foot. This 2.5-kilometer (1.5-mile) hike is not for the faint of heart, with rugged, uneven trails. But the reward is a breathtaking view of the waterfall cascading into a tranquil natural pool.

Discover the diverse flora and fauna as you traverse the lush hilly terrain and dense jungle. As you make your way along the river, you’ll see bamboo, cacao, mango and pineapple growing wild.

When you reach the misty falls, take a dip in the cool, refreshing waters for an invigorating end to your trek.

A half-day trek costs about CA $50 per person, depending on the riding center and whether or not you hire a guide. Make sure to bring a little extra money to tip your guides. They’re dedicated volunteers who are more than happy to chat with you throughout the trip. A little Spanish will also go a long way!
